It’s been about 4 years since the last time I posted on here and at the time I was moving to PA. I’m sure you can gather from the title of this post that I have moved yet again! At least this time, it should be a permanent move. So where exactly am I? That would be…….
Good ol’ Charleston, South Carolina! How beautiful does that look?! The best part about this move is that my whole family moved here too. We were all able to get new jobs down here and make it work so that we are basically within a 10 minute distance from each other. Yes, I know, that is love. But, moving to a new city isn’t the only exciting thing that happened with this adventure.
That’s right, I bought a brand new house! My first house. And I love it. I closed in February and have been slowly trying to make it my own. There is a ton I’m learning about owning a home, like cutting grass. Boy was that NOT fun the first time I had to do it on my own. Thank goodness I’ve had so much support from the people I love. But like with most things, it’s all getting easier as I settle into home ownership. With that being said, I will be getting more DIY and home update posts out of it!
That leads me to what’s to come with the revitalization of The LaLa Way and me personally.
I’ve been getting a lot of encouragement and inspiration from the people closest to me to really focus on the blog again and see what we can make of it. And I agree. The truth is, there has been a lot going on in my life over the past few years and without getting into it, recent events made it clear that something had to change. So that’s what I’m doing. Starting with this blog and with me. I’m sure you’re asking: okay then Lauren, what is that going to look like? I’m glad you asked!
Baking will definitely start becoming a large focus of The LaLa Way’s posts because it’s what I love the most. There’s something about the focus baking requires that calms me. I always make the birthday cakes in my family and as my nieces are getting older, their cakes are getting more complex so I want to start documenting that. I also want to start trying my hand at creating more of my own recipes. To do that, I’ve researched more of the science of baking and watched more videos on specific kinds of baked goods. We’ll be able to see how all that works out here! The first baking post should come this weekend after I try my hand at a mermaid cake for my oldest niece’s 5th birthday. Stay tuned for that.
In addition, as I’m attempting to tweak and adjust my diet in an effort to become healthier, I’m thinking I may start doing some cooking recipe reviews. I can’t stand bland things and I can’t have a ton of salt in my food so getting good flavor is really important to me. I imagine it’s important for a lot of people. So I want to share recipes I’ve found that provide an healthier option without sacrificing flavor.
Speaking of health, I’ve decided to start doing the C25k again. I hate running. I mean I really hate running. But I’ve also had a hard time finding workout routines that work for me. I’ve already done a half marathon, a couple 10ks and a few 5ks in the past (believe me it’s been a long time since then though). I got some encouragement watching someone else make running and other workout routines work for them. Why not try if I’m doing an overhaul on life?! I’ll keep you updated on how that goes and what I incorporate with it. Wish me luck! No really, I might die from the heat here.
I recently bought a bunch of personal growth books and even though it may take me awhile to get through them, I really want to start doing book reviews on here. Like I said earlier, things need to change and I’m not ashamed to admit that I needed to find some help with that and books seemed to be the best choice. Those that know me, know that I LOVE to read and have a book buying problem. I actually had a library built in my new house (will post pictures of that at some point). So I want to be able to share my view on these books as I finish them and how helpful (or not) I found them to be. I will also include fiction reviews once I find the time to read some of those. I say time because I’m the type who will do nothing but read all day to finish a book. It’s a problem.
Friday Favorites may become a thing again, but I’m still debating between doing that weekly or just a monthly thing. Let me know what you think.
That was probably a bunch of stuff all in one post but I gotta say, I’m pretty excited about working on the blog again. I can’t wait to start sharing all the things I love with you guys. See you in the next post!
